Dental Implants

With a periodontist on staff, Center for Smiles offers full-service dental implant procedures. If you’re looking for a durable, slip-resistant, permanent solution to replace missing teeth, visit Dr. Rallis or Dr. Mihalos for a dental implant consultation. We also work with a reputable laboratory that fabricates custom crown and bridgework, dentures, and partials. These prostheses can be anchored traditionally or with dental implants.

Dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care.

  • x-ray image of dental implantsCrown and Bridgework – To replace one tooth or a few teeth in a row, we may recommend a bridge. This prosthesis is made of two crowns, with one or more replacement teeth in between. The crowns attach to existing, healthy teeth and hold the bridge in place. Bridges are fixed, or non-removable, dental appliances.
  • Dentures & Partials – A partial replaces multiple teeth on one arch by fitting replacement teeth into the gaps, much like puzzle pieces. Partials usually attach to inconspicuous clasps on healthy, surrounding teeth. Dentures replace all teeth on an arch. In most cases, the gum-colored base of a denture is held in place with adhesive. Dentures and partials are removable appliances that require special care and maintenance.
  • Dental ImplantsImplants feature a small, biocompatible metal root anchored in the socket left by a missing tooth. A single crown can be placed on an implant post, or a few implants can secure a bridge, partial, or denture. Bone tissue in the jaw fuses with the implant posts to form a replacement tooth root. Other prosthetics do not offer this stability and dependability. Furthermore, dental implant posts stimulate bone tissue, so jawbone density remains strong. Without teeth roots or implant posts, the jawbone deteriorates. After your initial consultation, Dr. Rallis or Dr. Mihalos will let you know if implants are right for you. In some cases, preliminary procedures, like a sinus lift or bone graft, improve a patient’s potential for successful implant surgery. Good oral health and adequate jawbone density are required for implants. Our periodontist, Dr. Chris Chondrogiannis will perform the surgical portion of your procedure. Once your bone integrates with the posts, your regular general dentist, Dr. Rallis or Dr. Mihalos, will work with our dental lab to fabricate your crown, bridge, partial, or denture.
  • Implant-Retained Dentures – People who have to endure slipping, loose, or ill-fitting lower dentures often turn to dental implants for denture retention. About four implants placed strategically on the lower jaw can hold a denture securely in place. With implant-retained dentures, you’ll eat, speak, and smile knowing that your teeth are stable and attractive.
